The 11th Althorp Literary Festival took place on the 12th, 13th and 14th June 2014 and was a tremendous success, with record numbers of festival-goers.
The stellar line-up of authors included Kate Adie, Emma Bridgewater, Jung Chang, Jessie Childs, Julian Clary, Geordie Greig, Boris Johnson, Ben Macintyre, Charles Moore, Jeremy Paxman, Edward St Aubyn, Sir Roy Strong and Kate Williams.
Earl Spencer, said: “To be frank, it was just the best three days – happy, laughing, authors; delighted festival-goers in record numbers; and then my cricket XI defeated Boris Johnson’s team on the Saturday – even though Kevin Pietersen dropped in by helicopter to play for him – to make it the perfect weekend! I really do think this festival is the highlight of the Althorp year now, and it’s really good to know this place can make so many people so very happy, over several days. We work really hard to get it right. The weather helped. From my point of view, it could not have gone any better. We have set ourselves quite a target, if we are going to beat those three days. Work on that starts now.”
