A charity dinner hosted by Earl and Countess Spencer at Althorp House, on 22nd March 2014, raised more than £22,000 for the Northampton Hope Centre.

The Hope Centre, which was founded in 1974 as ‘The Soup Kitchen’, is dedicated to helping homeless and vulnerable people in the Northampton area, by providing essential services and pastoral care, life skills workshops, and by enabling the homeless to create an income for themselves.

Earl Spencer has been a patron of the charity since July 2011, and donated the use of Althorp to mark the 40th anniversary of the Northampton Hope Centre. Earl Spencer said, “I was happy to lend Althorp to the Hope Centre for this very enjoyable evening because I believe strongly in the good work that the charity does, and because my family has always used Althorp to support causes in Northampton and Northamptonshire that it believes in.”
