Charles, Ninth Earl Spencer has been in charge for just 23 of the House’s 500-year history but has striven in that time to make a positive difference, by taking an uncompromising approach to the continuing wellbeing of Althorp.
Showcasing one of Europe’s finest private collections of furniture, paintings and ceramics, each intriguing room of this magnificent family home has a fascinating story of its own.
We are delighted to announce Althorp will open the grounds to visitors for the month of August! Visitors are invited to enjoy a picnic on the lawns and spot the rare black fallow deer, a simply glorious spot to spend the day being inspired.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, Althorp will not be opening the Main House, Café, Gift Shop or Exhibitions. Althorp will be opening the grounds on a one-way walking system to minimise the risk to all visitors and staff.
There will not be an opportunity to purchase a ticket or guide book at the gate. Tickets to the grounds will only be available to purchase online prior to arrival.
